Description

The Six-Banded Angelfish is commonly referred to as the Six Bar Angelfish or Six Striped Angelfish. It is omnivores and is known to eat fish eggs, sponges, worms, and mollusks. That is why the Six-Banded Angelfish may be considered reef safe but with caution. It is moderate to care for and many experienced aquarists consider keeping a Six Bar Angelfish to be a rewarding achievement.

To reduce stress, a large aquarium along with many hiding places is required. With its beautifully composed body, the Six-Banded Angelfish or Six Striped Angelfish makes a captivating addition to any tank. The water quality has to be excellent along with the temperature range of 71-77 degrees Fahrenheit, and pH value of 8.1 to 8.4 for the Six-Banded Angelfish to thrive well. Also, it is not advisable to keep a Six-Banded Angelfish or Six Striped Angelfish in aquariums smaller than 50 gallons, larger fish require larger tanks.

The juvenile Six-Banded Angelfish or Six Striped Angelfish is considered less risky for a reef aquarium but as it grows it may nip at stony corals with large polyps and eats clams, soft corals. The Six-Banded Angelfish is semi-aggressive towards other similar genus species, other angelfish, and its own species, therefore we suggest you to keep them singly or if you still want to keep it in group it is advisable to keep them in a large and cleverly decorated aquarium. Being hermaphroditic species, it is very difficult to breed the Six-Banded Angelfish, since it is indistinguishable in color from male to female.
